• Born in Italy, Francesco Luciani is a musician, a composer, a professional trainer and a teacher. He gives concerts in Europe, Africa and Latin America, and has several books and e-books published, as well as the CDs "Sonatas Ibéricas – Iberian Sonatas" and "J.S. Bach - Sonata/ Suite/ Partita" . He taught at several schools and conservatories, and executes master classes and classical guitar perfecting courses. He teaches in Italian and Portuguese schools. He is an accredited professional trainer by the "Conselho Científico-Pedagógico da Formação Contínua" (PT) and is also certified by the "Instituto de Emprego e Formação Professional" (PT).
  • Perfecting the Guitar Technique
  • Francesco Luciani obtained his Diploma of Classical Guitar at the Conservatorio Superiore di Musica “A. Casella” (L'Aquila, Italy), with top marks. He went on to study at a higher level in Portugal, were he obtained his Masters Degree in Music and Music Teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He had famous teachers like José Piñero Nagy, one of the main promoters of the classical guitar in Portugal, Olga Pratts and António Pinho Vargas, both famous figures of the Portuguese classical music panorama. He also went to the LVI Curso Universitario Internacional de Música Española – “Música em Compostela” (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela – Spain) on a classical guitar scholarship, under the guidance of the teacher, José Luís Rodrigo, a renowned specialist on Spanish music for classical guitar. To improve and deepen his studies attended several master classes with famous international teachers such as Eduardo Isaac, Bruno Battisti D’Amario, Giampaolo Bandini, Matteo Mela and Alberto Ponce. He also studied flamenco guitar with Gerardo Nuñez, famous virtuoso and teacher of flamenco music.

  • Among his books there is the publishing of a transcription for classical guitar of a set of sonatas by the Portuguese composer Carlos Seixas ("Cinco Sonatas de Carlos Seixas para Guitarra", AvA Musical Editions), the book "12 Studi per Chitarra" (AvA Musical Editions), and the book "5 Preludi per Chitarra" (AvA Musical Editions). This last’s book publishing occurred after the publishing of a didactic eBook ("5 Preludi", Kindle Editions). In 2017 he published the book "Quatro Toccatas" (AvA Musical Editions), a transcription of a set of Carlos Seixas' toccate for two guitars. He also released the CD "Iberian Sonatas", a tribute to the Iberian Peninsula's erudite music. His most recent discographic work is "J.S. Bach - Sonata/ Suite/ Partita".

  • Francesco Luciani’s live concerts take place in renowned concert halls in Europe, Africa and Latin America. His concert career includes participations in important national and international music competitions, highlights being the Fernando Sor competition (Spain), the Joaquim Rodrigo competition (Spain), the H. Villa-Lobos competition (Spain) and the N. Paganini competition (Italy). He works mainly solo, but also with chamber music groups and orchestras. He collaborated for example with the Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras. He is a foundation member of the "Lusitalia Classical Duo".
  • He performed live for the National radio station (Antena 2) and for the Portuguese television (RTP).
  • He also performed for several public figures such as the Venezuelan and the Uruguayan Ambassadors in Lisbon, the Portuguese Minister of Arts, Gabriela Canavilhas and highest dignitaries of the Vatican. He also performed a concert by invitation of D. Fernando de Mascarenhas, Marquis of Fronteira.

  • Francesco Luciani taught at the Music Conservatories in Funchal (Madeira), Portalegre, at Metropolitana's Music Conservatory (Lisbon) and at Coimbra's, Oporto's and Braga's Music Conservatories. He also performed several educational concerts in various Italian Conservatories. He regularly executes master classes and classical guitar perfecting courses. He teaches at the Italian and Portuguese schools. He is an accredited trainer by the "Conselho Científico-Pedagógico da Formação Contínua" and is also certified by the "Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional" (PT), and executes teacher training and professional courses (music didactics, music, music education and instrument).
